Mental Health Advocate Belle Nicholas Talks with RV Students

Mental Health Advocate Belle Nicholas Talks with RV Students RV student had the opportunity to listen to mental health advocate, Belle Nicholas, tell her story of surviving anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation with support of her family, friends, therapy, and education. Currently a Psychology doctoral graduate student at Widener University, Ms. Nicholas, explained that, "I gained the tools and confidence to manage my mental health and lead others in doing the same. I am an example of the fact that our struggles do not define us - they are our strengths." During her senior year in high school, she was diagnosed with Vasovagal Syndrome, a condition that causes individuals to unexpectedly pass out. This, along with the stressors of graduating high school, created an anxiety and depression loop for her, which led to an intense battle with suicidal thoughts.
