All School Play: Peter and the Starcatcher

This year's All School Play, Peter and the Starcatcher will be performed from Thursday September 25th to Sunday September 28th . Tony-winning Peter and the Starcatcher upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up (a.k.a. Peter Pan). A wildly theatrical adaptation of Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson’s best-selling novels, the play was conceived for the stage by directors, Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, and written by Rick Elice, with music by Wayne Barker. From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores the depths of greed and despair... and the bonds of friendship, duty and love. September is Student Attendance Awareness Month

The New Jersey Department of Education is pleased to join other states in recognizing September as Student Attendance Awareness Month. For students to learn and achieve their fullest potential, it is critical that they are in school and engaged in the learning process. Chronic absenteeism – defined as missing 10 percent or more days of school for any reason, including both excused and unexcused absences – can occur when a student misses as few as two days of school per month over the course of a school year. Chronic absenteeism negatively affects academic performance, increasing the risk of lower grades and dropping out. Chronically absent students are more likely to earn lower grades and standardized test scores compared to their peers with regular attendance. To learn more about RVRHS Attendance procedures click on the link following this news item.
